A shop built on cakes, not shortcuts
Cake Workshop has traded from 68 Romsey Road, Shirley, since 1987 — long enough to have become part of the neighbourhood's own history. Owner Claire Puleo has run the cake side of the business since 2007, building it into the wedding, celebration and wholesale operation it is today.
The shop is open seven days a week, and still does things the way a proper cake shop should: made to order, finished by hand, and known by name to the customers who keep coming back.

How we got here
Cake Workshop opens on Romsey Road
The shop opens its doors at 68 Romsey Road, Shirley, Southampton — the same address it trades from today.
Claire Puleo takes on the cakes
Claire Puleo begins running the cake side of the business, growing it into custom celebration and wedding cakes.
Cakes, classes & wholesale — seven days a week
Wedding cakes, celebration cakes, wholesale supply and hands-on cake decorating classes, all from the original shop.
Passing It On
Now teaching the craft too
After decades of baking for Southampton, Cake Workshop now runs hands-on cake decorating classes in the same shop — sharing the piping, icing and finishing skills behind every cake on the counter.
